Yograj Singh talks about the shocking incident


Yograj Singh, former Indian cricketer and father of Indian cricket legend Yuvraj Singh shared a shocking incident involving legendary cricketer Kapil Dev. Yograj revealed that he once went to Kapil's house with a gun to kill him after he was dropped from the Indian cricket team.

However, he spared the former Indian captain because of his mother. Yograj Singh, who played only one Test and six ODIs for India in the early 1980s, also admitted to using abusive language towards Kapil during his confrontation and severed all ties with the famous cricketer .

In a stunning revelation, Yograj Singh revealed that he was once good friends with Kapil Dev, but things took a turn when the legendary all-rounder dropped him from the team without explanation.

He left the ex-cricketer furious and went to Kapil Dev's house with a gun to take revenge, but he could not insult his mother. But the confrontation was so intense, with Yograj hurling abuse at the former Indian captain. He later vowed to never play cricket again, instead focusing on his son Yuvraj's career, and the rest is history.

Yograj Singh told YouTuber Samdish Bhatia on the Unfiltered by Samdish podcast: “When Kapil Dev became the captain of India, North Zone and Haryana, he left me for no reason. My wife (Yuvi's mother) wanted me to ask questions to Kapil. I told him I would teach this bastard a lesson. I took out my gun and went to Kapil's house in sector 9.

He went out with his mother. I abused him dozens of times. I told him because of you I lost a friend and what you did you will pay for it. I said, “I want to put a bullet through your head, but I won't because you have a very godly mother sitting here.” I said to Shabnam, “Let's go.” That was when I decided I wasn't going to play cricket; Yuvi will play.”

Yograj Singh never forgave Bishan Singh Bedi

Meanwhile, Yograj also accused Kapil Dev and others, including the late Bishan Singh Bedi, of conspiring against him during his cricket career. He claimed their politics ended his career. Yograj revealed that the then selector Ravindra Chadha told him that Bedi thought he was too close to Sunil Gavaskar simply because he played for Mumbai and that was why he did not pick him. Yograj said he could never forgive late Bishan Singh Bedi for ruining his career.

Moreover, Yuvraj Singh's father revealed that he has not spoken to Kapil Dev all these years. He recalled that Kapil Dev was the only one crying after India won the 2011 World Cup and his son played a key role in that historic triumph. Yograj revealed that he sent Kapil a newspaper clipping and said that his son had performed better than him in the 1983 World Cup.

He concluded by saying, “In 2011, when India won the World Cup, the only man crying was Kapil Dev. I sent him a scrap of paper that said, “My son did better than you in the World Cup.”
