Luton have appointed Wycombe boss Bloomfield as their new manager.

Luton Town have appointed Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield as their new manager to replace Rob Edwards.

Edwards had led the Hatters to the Premier League in 2023 but resigned from his post last week after a poor return to the Championship.

Bloomfield, 40, guided Wanderers to second place in League One and lost just four league games all season.

Luton are 20th in the Championship, just two points above the relegation zone. Bloomfield's first game is at home to Preston on Saturday and he has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at Kenilworth Road.

“It is a real honor and privilege to be here to be appointed manager of such an incredible club. I'm really proud,” Bloomfield said.

“The feeling that they want me, how much research they've done for me and the football team I've produced at Colchester and Wycombe, what I stand for, who I am, the knowledge base of what I'm about, we've tried to instill in our football club and it's left me in a time of uncertainty that it was the right move at the right time.”

Wycombe said they were disappointed by Bloomfield's decision, but said: “The club is fully committed to building on the foundations of this season's success and realizing our long-term vision for Wycombe Wanderers.”

The League One side face Mansfield on Saturday.
